Hello

I've put my hands on a set of Cosmic wheels but they need some care and I need some answer

1) With which nuts were these fitted to the wheel hub originaly ?

2) Were they painted silver/black by the factory ?

3) The steel insert is available as a spare parts somewhere ?

Unfortunately some of these fallen out from the wheel

4) May I use different wheel nuts for fitting without the steel inserts ?

You will need to have a look at the inside of the insert. It will be fairly obvious to see if it is a radius or a round seat.

unfortunately round seat ones are NLA ( or I have just not found any) changing to the tapered seat ones will require a full set and a full set of nuts.

Can't really help with all of your answers, not without taking the wheels of my car and I'm afraid that's not possible at the moment.  I can say they were black and silver from the factory I believe.

The centre caps are available here https://www.johnbrow...uct/cosmic-CCCO

As are replica wheels to give you an idea what they should look like, albeit diamond cut which I don't think the originals would have been.

Possible solution is to find some nice nuts and ask a machine shop to produce the inserts for it

Or just buy the tapered ones. See https://www.theminif...date-it/page-56

They are a friction fit not an interference fit but should not be loose. Measure the diameter of your old ones and post the info up. I have my old ones I can measure for reference.

They were black and aluminium from factory.

This is from about 1973.

That’s the same as I took out but some person had run them on a 4x100 car so they were a bit worn. I still have them Somewhere.

the hole in the center is bigger and the taper different. So new nuts and possibly studs if you have unthreaded stud showing.

Thanks a lot

I have CN2 nuts from MiniSpares to my ATS wheels. These are 60-degree tapered. I guess they will be fine to the new tapered inserts that you showed me
