I once saw a mini for sale with alloy twin tanks.
Anyone know if these are commercially available or were they bespoke jobs?

Plastic moulded RH tanks were available from Australia a few years ago.....shame they don't seem to be on sale anymore as would save all the corrosion problems that modern high ethanol fuels create inside steel fuel tanks.

Taurus and I think Serck used to make them, but they would have stopped doing them in the early 70's. You might get lucky if you keep an eye about.

I have one of those. I bought it from Paul Gulson. He used to put them up on Ebay one in a while. I haven't seen one in a few years. Mine is sitting on a shelf since I installed a new fuel cell.

I believe these were deemed illegal here.

Any idea why? As most modern cars have plastic fuel tanks.

Could you post up a few photos of the plastic fuel tank for interest and reference.....it was a few years back and hard to find any info on them now.

Paul Gulson Australian made HDPE plastic right hand tank on the left, steel left hand tank on the right (Riley Elf modified version)
Steel neck extension slides over the plastic neck, not attached in this picture. I added the extra vent nipple.
In the boot.

I believe they are required to pass a rupture test for which they weren't submitted for any testing, and that too is why they are no longer available.
