Bonjour lol
Right im still learning every day
As im going to be taking my Dashpot (as you call it) off. not sure the right name for it.
As ill be taking it off. i was told that u could polish the inside of the dash pot with some sort of polish, for quicker responce. or can some one put my in the right track. plzz
Plus, do u have to change the needle. or would the one thats already in there be ok.
Its a hif 44 carb for MG METRO TURBO.
Thanks guys..

I don't doubt that polishing the inside of the dashpot would do 'something'
But I think it would be a waste of time and anysort of throttle response improvement would be negligable. I think you'd get better results from polishing a turd
Now needle changin.... this can make a MAHOOOOSIVE differnce to the way your car responds and performs.....If you're going to be changing the needle, you'd best take your car to a rolling road and have it done properly. However, we might be able to give you a 'ball park' needle if you give us the specs of your engine,... for instance.. is the engine standard, or are there mods on it?? such as air filter upgrade... exhaust upgrade etc etc......

the piston and bore of the dashpot are machined to as close a tolerance as is possible!! as good as an airtight seal!! any polishing you do will be like giving the piston an airleak!! it would probably give less response and awkward running especially at lower throttle openings and tickover!

You can clean it up to make sure there arent any deposits but dont polish it excessively for the reasons above..

the deposits often help the piston work properly!! if its not sticking then leave it alone!!
