I have hi-lo's with rubber cones fitted on my '93 Mayfair, running 10x6" wheels. The Front is fine with a nice even gap between tyre/arch on both sides, but the back is uneven, with the passenger having a bigger gap than the drivers side. Only about 10mm but it looks odd when comparing.

I have tried to lower the ride height on that side by adjusting the hi-lo, but it gets to the point where the whole arm starts to turn including the trumpet and cone and becomes loose.

Could this be worn/compressed cones, more on one side than the other, or could there be something else at play? Surely, if adjusted to the point just before the whole piece starts to move, the car should be much lower?

Advice Welcomed.

You need to adjust the opposite front one. And ideally get the corner weights set.

Compressed cones or worn cups in the radius arms won't help.  How old are the cones?

I would look at your cones, i had an issue with my cones recently and after having had a chat with a few people they have come across/found a few new cones that have failed not long after fitting, so just had my new red dot cones arrive for fitting in the new year.

What about raising the right rear to match the left rear if its only 10mm ?

Before you get too carried away with the suspension, there may well be a twist in the shell. I found Mini Bodies in torsion (twist) are exceedingly strong. If you think about it, if the front is level, then the back being lighter, will follow the front. Check tyre pressures and that the floor / ground you are measuring from is dead level and flat, 10 mm isn't out of the question for the shell to be out and / or the ground.

Thanks all for the replies. The cones look older than the hi-los, but not 100% sure as they were fitted by previous owner. May look to replace them anyway for peace of mind.

Will definitely experiment with adjusting the other 3 corners as well and see what impact that has. Will let you know how I get on.
