The website says it will be back in 2024 so I am guessing the attendance/ticket sales for a 'one make' track day for Mini/MINI's no longer stacks up financially as they 'rebrand' and 'modernise'.....

It seemed to start going downhill when Miniworld mag pulled out of backing the event. Maybe Castle Combe should follow the 'Brands Hatch Mini Festival' example and base the show side around an all Mini racing event to get more people through the gate, although that will disappoint those who like to experience a few laps on the track. The Brands Mini Festival @£25 person entry ticket seemed very busy this year, especially as the weather was very hot that weekend.

Quote:-
"The news comes ahead of an exciting period for Castle Combe Circuit, which is preparing for some significant upgrades in the coming months that include the likes of an all-new website and circuit re-brand to reflect its stepped-up efforts to modernise and become a greener venue – please stay tuned for further announcements."
(Please note: we are putting Mini Action Day on hold for a year to review the event and ensure it comes back bigger and better for 2024).

It was inevitable. The last few years attendance has been way down on all counts - clubs/owners, traders, and the public. I'm sure most can see how those three are interrelated.

As part of one of the bigger clubs in the area (we've won a few of their awards), what's frustrating is that we've offered to help understand the 'scene' better to improve the event multiple times. Every offer is ignored.

It's going to take some effort to fix the problems and, if I'm honest, I'm not sure they're all that interested. The pop-bang brigade at the general action days bring bigger crowds (and more spectacular crashes), that's where the money is for them.

Single marque shows seemed to suffer this year, not just in the Mini world. The MG gathering was cancelled this year because of low ticket sales. It’s probably going to be a common problem for the next few years, people will pick and choose their fave shows rather than going to a show every weekend during the summer.
