It looks like some of it's missing on the right hand side.
Possibly it's something a PO bodged on because it was what he happened to have, rather than get the correct one.

,,,,,, does oil or grease need adding to the gaiter when partially fitted? Will engine oil suffice? Thanks.
The correct oil is SAE90 (essentially gearbox / diff) oil - 200 ml. Later racks were greased, but they were all designed for oil. Leyland only went to grease later to get around warranty claims. Even these, I'd recommend oil in, the racks last way way longer.
