I'm sure 5.5 gallons will be enough but i wondered if right hand petrol tanks ever produced with 7.5 gallon capacity?

Not that I know of. It was the reason for making the left hand tank 7.5 gallon.

There's been many different aftermarket tanks available, especially in the 60's and 70's.

I have a recollection of one particular tank, might have been a RH, that was circa 12 gallon.

Example of a long range RH tank here.....as long as you did not need much boot space!

Downton tuned Targa Florio Mini Cooper S.

"The Alloy fuel tank in the boot was HUGE! Once it was out the original BMC parts label was revealed, complete with its rosette and Part Number 21A 1469.

This was a "Works only" Special Long-Range fuel tank that held 13 ¼ gallons."

Back in the 60's I used a Morris Oxford tank bolted with straps to the rear boot bulkhead. Needed it for all night rallies. Couldn't afford a right hand tank back then. Many others did similar, just to be able to get to the halfway halt.

Plastic RH Tank made by Paul Gulson in Australia, he made them for a few years and then sold the equipment to make them. Apparently he made over 700 of them but there’s been no sight of new tanks since pre-2016 after he sold the equipment.
