Hi all,

I will be fitting a Kent MD246 cam in my 998 soon, and wondered which followers I should fit. I was wondering what peoples thoughts on this were?

Didnt really want to be spending over the odds on lightened and drilled followers if they're not required.

Thanks

When I searched this subject some time ago, general consensus was that Keith Calvers (CalverST) were the best option. He supplies a few types, standard, race etc…

Just to note - I bought a set of Keith’s standard followers.

If you're not revving it to the moon, standard.

Talk to Keith Calver and see what he recommends.

other than ensuring the faces have been ground correctly (i.e. they're not flat) you shouldn't need to be too concerned about weights etc

+1 for Keith Calvers standard followers  https://www.calverst...-follower-set/

Lightened cam followers are not for road use.  They are pandering to the last bit of BHP in a race engine.

As they are more fragile, for reliability, they need to be changed every season.

I once had one break up during practice at Mallory park, (which cost me a good place on the grid)  and had to split the engine and shake the bits out of the gearbox, only to try too hard and bend the car at the hairpin on the first lap of the race.

I’d always get the cam and followers from the same supplier in the same sale as the cam. That way if you have any issue with either of them wearing badly you won’t have one supplier blaming the other

The followers should have a very small radius ground into the face to encourage them to spin on the cam lobes. The cam should have the matching grind
