Normally the pipes after the Y piece work with one size. The larger fits outside the Y piece while the smaller fits inside the Y piece.

Hi, I am looking at replacing the exhaust manifold on my 95 Cooper. It currently has an aftermarket three branch lcb manifold feeding into a Y piece that connects to a single pipe forward of the cat converter. The internal diameter of the manifold pipes is 1.6 inch (1 5/8'). The aftermarket lcb manifolds with the boss for the lambda sensor all seem to be 1.75 inch internal diameter. Are there any 1 5/8" manifolds for injection models that I might be overlooking? Would an adapter affect performance or require existing pipework to be cut?
Thanks
