Hi all,

I know this has been covered before as i have spent some time trying to get my head around it but my wires don't seem to match what people are saying.

i have a 1968 morris mini deluxe and i am doing an engine swap which has an alternator on it.

My current wires are as follows,

1 large wire to the 12v module from battery, then another large wire from module went to the old starter.

1 brown wire went to the module along with a white/red wire next to it. That was all.

I had a remaining brown/green and brown and/yellow going to the old dynamo, and one plain white wire going to the old coil.

How do i connect all of these up to the new alternator/starter?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

correction, the two smaller wires going to the module were brown, and the second white and brown not white/red

It is quite some time ago when I converted my 1971 mini from dynamo to alternator, so not sure if the wire colours are the same as yours, but here's what I had written down.

Regulator “E” Black wire to Ground (Car Body). DISPOSE OF THIS WIRE.

Regulator “D” Brown/Yellow THICK wire to Dynamo. JOIN TO BROWN WIRE FROM “A” AND BROWN/BLUE WIRES FROM “A1”

Regulator “D” Brown/Yellow THIN wire to Ignition Warning Light. JOIN TO BROWN/GREEN WIRE FROM “F”

Regulator “F” Brown/Green wire to Dynamo. JOIN TO THIN BROWN/YELLOW WIRE FROM “D”

Regulator “A” Brown wire to Light Switch. JOIN TO THICK BROWN/YELLOW FROM “D”

Regulator “A1” Brown/Blue wire to Ignition Switch. JOIN TO THICK BROWN/YELLOW FROM “D”

You could leave the wiring as is and just fit the dynamo to the replacement engine, unless you specificly want an alternator.

What Flat-Out says. I followed this and just ripped the guts out & soldered 2 wires in the back of my regulator that way it looks original and i didn’t cut my loom.
