Hi, Have anyone fitted a SPI automatic into a mk1 body? is there any clearance issue especially around the bulk head?

An automatic Mini has two 'kinks' in the subframe to recess the engine mountings, as the gearbox is slightly longer.

You might find links below have some useful information although not automatic, but fitting will be similar if you can find an automatic Mk1 front subframe:-

Brian Gunn charts the process of fitting an MPi engine to his 1983 Mini.
"It wasn’t until I had collected the engine and a big box of other parts that I’d realised what a job I’d taken on. Everything was different, granted the engine would fit in the same hole as before, but just about every device connected to it differed from the car’s original spec, so it was daunting to think I’d have to fit everything and get the car going. What’s more, the MPi Mini was what most people consider a ‘new’ car at that time, so gleaning any information about how things work was always going to be a difficult task; I was limited to strictly one source of information – Rover."

1995 SPI fitted to a MK1. (You may need to register with the Mk1 Forum to view post)

Quote from 'Rolesyboy'

"I took most of the guts from a low mileage written off '95 SPI and fitted them to a MK1 20 years ago. I figured this would be an inspired move and starting would be a doddle with improved reliability. I was right. It was a joy once completed . But what a complete pain in the arse trying to fit wiring looms and all the other bits and bobs to a Mk1 shell. Cutting multiple holes in crossmembers, bulkhead panels, inner wings, rod changes etc."

'Cutting multiple holes in crossmembers, bulkhead panels, inner wings, rod changes etc.'

Is still safe to mention such things on a public forum?
