Rebuilding an A+, believed to be SPi. It came to me very bare, in particular missing the oil filter housing and the oil transfer pipe.

Thought I could use one of my random spare oil filter housings, transfer pipe, and banjo. Turns out I can't because the banjo thread is too small for the block. Seems later engines used a flexi pipe?

What's my best way forwards? Without spending a fortune on "race" bits! For example, is there a special-sized banjo-bolt I can get so I can just use my old filter-housing and solid pipe? Or a flexi pipe whose threads will match the block and my old filter housing?

OK - found the answer (I think). It'll be one of these braided pipes...

You'd be best to use that flexible type, the standard 92 onwards can push out the unions

The post 92 engines did not use a banjo. As you have found out.

Originally, they had a steel pipe, that had a tube nut and olive where they screw in to the block, the thread is 11/16" UNF on these. The earlier blocks were 5/8" UNF.

If you don't have a later oil filter housing and want to use your older one you will need a different pipe
