Hello
I would like your opinions on the bearing oil holes as they do not line up.
The car
998cc engine has worked top notch for 30 years
I'm doing a rebuild.
Should I leave them ad they are?
Or should I enlarge them
Inevitable got acl bearings
And they don't line up.either
Any opinions thanks

Leave them, that is ample orifice for oil to lubricate the crank.

Before cars had oil pumps, the con-rods of my "straight 6 Hudson", had "Dippers", a small spoon on a 'forward facing' tube that splashed into the oil in the sump and guided enough oil to the Big-ends for some to be flung out during rotation.  A little of this alighted on the webs of the Mains and trickled to the edge of the Main bearings.

For a standard, or slightly warm, 998cc they will be absolutely fine.

If it were an all out race/rally monster then it would be worth fettling the block.

It'll be fine. The pressure will fill the bearing nicely. I do hope those are the old bearings and not the new ones.. they look filthy!

I'm not sure I'd bother for a cooking 998, though it's always nice to know that every restriction has been removed if possible.  The real question is whether you can remove every single piece of metal dust/shavings/whatever from the oilway after the work.

Yes they are the old bearings.
I'll think I'll leave the holes as they are
It's a standard 998cc
Upgrade pistons +20
I use it to go around town
Not racing
Thanks for all your answers๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜
