I'm having a bit of difficulty changing the barrels in my 98 minis door handles.

I'm having trouble with the little screw holding it all together. On one handle the screw came out fairly easy after hitting it with a bit of wd40. On the other handle though, I've tried leaving it in wd40 for a couple of days, I've tried a philips heads, a flat head, htting it with an impact screwdriver, shouting at it and now I think I'm starting to round the screw out. Anyone any advice on what I should try next?

Screw in question:

Failing any other suggestions or success tapping in a small flat head screwdriver which might give you a bit more bite I'd probably just have a look on ebay and see if i can find another handle for a tenner or something

If you were near I'd say take one of mine I'm putting in flush metro door handles

get some proper penetrating fluid on it.  if that doesn't work put some heat into the handle where the screw fastens and see if that helps.   just try and avoid putting so much in the plastic bits start melting

if none of that works, drill it out, or get hold of another one

I would say go with the heat option. And crossed fingers...

Thanks folks, I have one of those gas soldering iron/mini blowtorchs so will give that a go!

Was looking on ebay for a spare handle but because I live in Dublin any 10 pound handle quickly turns into a 40+ euro handle with shipping and customs

But if the heat doesn't work I have a mini garage not a million miles from me to try for a spare!

Thanks
