Hi all,

Read all sorts here in order to help diagnose my recently acquired SPI which is running stupidly rich.  I noted that there are several ECU reading programs which people have shared with the community.  Unfortunately I don't' have a working Android device so that option is out.  My garage is underground so I have no 4G or internet there,  so the web based readers are out.  I installed the MEMSfcr program mentioned in the pinned post here, but can't seem to get the driver working,  program runs,  driver installed,  but just doesn't connect to the ECU.   Most of the work on these seems to have been done a while ago, and I am no computer ace.  Are there any "install and use" programs floating around for Win10 ?  (side note I think I found the problem - filthy/blocked MAP sensor port. I am guessing I still need to check for fault codes and clear any though).  cheers.

I use Pscan which is a computer based programme that is compatible with Windows 10 according to their website.  It isn't cheap but they are still adding features so is a current programme. They say it does virtually everything the dealer software does.

see link, https://pscan.uk/

Is there an android emulator that'll run on your pc hardware?

Could you pick up, or borrow, an Android device on the cheap? Amazon Fire7 Tablets aren't that expensive & they have a solid returns policy

Just be sure you can sideload, preferably Playstore if that's where the apk is.

depending on how far you need to go https://web.memsfcr....fxAxfJKaflVZmCs or https://memsfcr.co.uk/ for a download version you dont need to be online to use, not a full fault reader but should help point you in the right direction

Thanks folks.  Just couldn't get the windows driver working for memsfcr.  I'll probably pick up a cheap 2nd hand Android tab for this task.

As for the car,  I had checked all the vacuum lines and all seemed ok,  but for some reason omitted to check the line into the ECU.  Did so last night and brown fuel residue dripped out.  Took the ECU out and cleaned the MAF carefully with felt probes soaked in 100% ethanol.  Also blew through the fuel trap and that gave a gurgle and a shot of muck also.  All back together and after about 5 mins of driving the car straightened itself out a lot.  Still not perfect,  but then again my baseline might be too high after years of modern things like Golf R.  Idle still a bit low though,  looks like 600RPM.

What's the spec'd idle rpm, not that familiar with injection Mini but thought it was lowish anyway?

Hard to  imagine it could be lower than intended. it wouldn't run at all without a decent crank position signal & expect it's a primary datum that's a target for for other variables, like the idle air valve.
