Hello.

my gearbox in my racer is an a-plus box with the s-ratio conversion (DAM3169 and 22G1040 I believe), which means I have 2'nd (22G1094) and 3'rd from a 1977 mini 998. This works great, but my 2'nd gear needs changing now as its worn and I was comparing it to the a-plus single-groove second gear and have a hard time seeing the difference, neither teeth count or diameter or anything like that. I know from reading, amoungst other things moke spiders gear set table, that it has to be the 22G1094 with this laygear and such, but why cant I use the DAM4932 gear in my case?

his table is in here:
https://www.theminif...-which-gearset/

thanks in advance

Martin.

The cut of the teeth is completely different, they physically won't mesh.

not very different no. feels like they will go in together just fine.

quite possibly i'm wrong, i have heard your statement before but looking at them side by side and offering them up to the laygear i have a hard time seing the difference apart from the identification grove

Try it if you like - if you can get them together !

As Simon mentioned, they are a different tooth form and DP size, they won't mesh.
