This morning I was dropping some engine parts off to be machined and got talking to one of the machinists, the place has a rolling road which I knew about, but what I didn't know it also has an engine dyno ( they don't advertise the fact), so we got talking about that, anyway long story short, the guy also has 2 other dynos that he doesn't use, they are the old water type, not the new all singing dancing electronic type, so the dilemma is do I buy one knowing I'll hardly ever use it, or let it go.

For me it would depend on the cost once it's installed in a suitable location.

There is a saying in our family "Handy, even if you never use it". ... So for generations we have hoarded stuff, and now thee is no where to put things.
Something that Issigonis didn't think of, was the ease/difficulty of hitching his tailed crankshaft to a dyno.

The price is what I would consider silly cheap, less than a couple of nights out on the p#ss ( not that I drink), he was honest and said it will probably cost a couple of K to get up and running once the bed was set, the coupling was made, the cooling and fueling was sorted plus the monitoring kit. But think of the fun to be had.

If you have somewhere to put it then it is a no brainer.
