Hi All,

I have a SPi engine out of a Jap Mini. I think it is about a '92-'93 build.

It has just started to hunt at idle. Doesn't do it all the time and there is no pattern I can pin point.

Will happen cold or hot but more when hot.

I scanned it with an ACR4 with Rover 3 pod and comes up with no errors.

When you look at the sensors it show the P/N Switch changes from OFF to ON when it hunts.

it goes from 900 rpm up to 1200 rpm

MAP shows 36 at idle and goes up to about 38-39 when it hunts.

I have unplugged everything and cleaned all the plugs with no change.

I'm thinking its to either do with the ECU or the Stepper motor as when the P/N switch changes from OFF to ON the stepper moves which increases the revs.

I am thinking the P/N is in relation to an automatic however mine is a manual.

I'm at a loss as to what do check / do next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Pete
