Thanks everyone, the top hose works fine when cut like Nick said.

I ordered a Fletcher radiator that came with the upper and lower hoses for my 998cc 1990 Mini. I think I messed up and got one for a 1275. Radiator looks the same but would like to know can I cut the top hose to fit and are the back hoses the same or different. Another question for people who have used these radiators are the hoses hard to get on? The hoses are Fletcher also, and extremely hard to twist on. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Top hose can be cut. Bottom hoses are the same for the same cooling set up.

Fletcher brand products are poor quality fit when compared to original with the lower outlet often causing contact environment to some crank dampers/pulleys.

also the shinny aluminum is a poor conductor when compared to the correct spec copper/brass radiators.

use some silicon spray/lube.

Is the 1275 top hose not an entirely different shape to a 998 one?  I can't see how cutting it will make it fit (although I'll caveat that with saying I've not had a small bore for many years).
Cutting a clubman hose for a roundnose is feasible though.

The top hoses are quite different. For a 998 you will need a 998 top hose and I don't hink a 1275 would be ideal if cut.

I'll be going into my workshop later and will have a look at both the 998 hose and the 1275 hose as I have both types of car there at present.

Basically the 1275 one is a question mark shape, and the 998 one is a curve

And I have made 1275 ones work with 998s.
