Hello from Sunny South Africa,

This is my first ever Mini (so don't burn me to bad if i get some of my mini lingo wrong) and loving every minute with this car.

It is a 1979 1275 GTS and mechanically 100% sound.

recently it was rebuilt by the previous owner who is a Mini mech here in RSA

it has already been cammed and also have 40 webers on. Just cant beat that sound anywhere.

The only changes planned is a respray and an interior overhaul. I can already feel April is going to be an expensive month for me.

Love the knowledge on the site and find myself reading a lot of threads during the evening instead ow working.

Cheers

Quinton

Is there perhaps a thread of what other brand car parts can be fitted directly to the mini?

Eg interior door lights from a mk1golf or front indicators from a datsun

Interior is still pretty decent, will take a few pics of what the current state is.

However this is also on the to do list:

-Build center console

-Smith Dials, (need to import from UK)

- Mock Suede roof lining

- still undecided if i want to cabon fibre wrap the dash or also mock suede

-Remove existing speakers, no sound install for this cabby i love the engine too much

Welcome, Quinton! I see you picked up Nathan's old GTS. Lovely purchase. It looks like quite the beast in every photo I've seen of it.

Howzit Vinay,

Yebo yes, what a joy of a cabby this is!

Also saw a few of what this car used to do and i feel that i owe it to the mini to restore it to its glory days!

When you start the work on the car, start a build thread here too! We have a few South African Mini build threads on the forum.

Also, well worth signing up for TMF+ for the MiniSpares discount ;)
