Hi, excuse my ignorance if this is a stupid question, should the piston come back down quickly if you reach in and lift it manually, my one comes down but a bit hesitant , thanks alot.

It shouldn’t come down to quickly. The rate at which it drops is dependent on the strength of the spring and the viscosity of the oil in the dashpot.
It should drop in a steady smooth motion.
