This is the back of the speedo:

There's a bulb in there (that particular one is the high beam). How do I get it out? Is that metal bit supposed to unscrew or something?

The lampholder is held in by a ring of spring clips which also earth the lampholder. These clips are an integral part of the lampholder, maybe a quick squirt of something like WD40 will help get it on the move.

As Nick says just pull it out, use pliers to get better grip if it is a bit tight.

Sounds odd but if you have a pair of old rubber gloves (they go tacky as they get older)

If there's space to get your fingers in there, whilst wearing them, will give you extra grip.

Also also useful if you have a jar or bottle with a stuck top.

Thanks everyone! I pulled it, it came out, and the bulb in there is visibly blown. I did squirt a bit of WD40 because why not and wore my usual gloves which are Screwfix "Site 320" ones and are a little bit rubbery. Easy when you know how.
