I've seen a few Mini's for sale with a metal plate in the footwells. Whether this is to cover a hole or provide a surface with questionable grip when wet is debatable.

What do you guys use apart from actually replacing the footwell floor properly?

Has it made it through an MOT and are you short of a deck chair?

I would like to get my car through an MOT without a trip to B&Q.

I guess any old bit of aluminium sheet will do but is that good enough for the MOT?

No. But pretty much any old bit of steel sheet will do if you weld it in all the way around.

I once brought a car that the dealer had repaired with newspaper and P38 , it had a year's MOT so this type of repair must be OK.! !.. ? NOT.

as far as I understand it , so long as it passes the tap-with-a-little-hammer test then it's a pass

how you achieve that 'structural integrity' is then up for debate depending on your level of honesty / how temporary it is / whether you're dedicated to a proper repair in the reasonably near future

also underseal is often used to hide a multitude of sins which is obviously extremely poor practice to say the least but sometimes needs must I suppose

Answer #6 seems like the only right one from my perspective, in terms of access it's not exactly problematic there's far worse places to try and weld

Steel that's fully seam welded is the only acceptable way to repair
