Hello. Good morning.
This is a question for troubleshooting.
The gap between the bonnet and the grill is different. (see arrow)
What I tried was adjusting the bonnet hinges and twisting the bonnet, but it didn't work.
(It seems that one side is twisted the moment the bonnet is closed.)
What could be the problem? Any advice please!

which side lines up best with the wings

also a picture of that slam panel with the bonnet open may help

do you have bonnet buffers fitted to the slam panel ?

if so, adjust (shorten) the bonnet lock pin so that the bonnet (just) rests on both buffers when shut

that in theory should mean the bonnet sits level and doesn't rattle

^ that's what I wanted to see yeah

If anything it looks like drivers side is too high so possibly the passenger side one is missing

My old escort years ago had sort of screw in and out rubber bump stops, they made adjustment very easy

Yep third that. Think this was brought up a while ago and bonnet buffers were missing?

On the left side (driver's seat), the grill side has a gap, but the top of the bonnet and the wing gap are narrow.
On the right side (passenger seat), the grille side is narrow and the gap between the bonnet and wing is relatively large. Could this be a hinge problem?

There was no bonnet buffer (thanks to that, I learned the name), and I thought the Classic Mini didn't have it.
Perhaps the hole in the arrow in the picture is the seat of the bonnet buffer?
I'm going to use another vehicle's bonnet buffer and put it in there to adjust it.

Thanks~

Mini bonnets and hinges are very flimsy and respond well to subtle force to align them. They are so flimsy they move about on their own.Steve..

these are the points I was referring to originally:

post-130883-0-41113900-1682468536.jpg[/url]

I'd be trying to make those look the same by either twisting it by hand (gently bit at a time) or by adding rubber bumper(s) as above

then see where that gets you with the chrome strip and let us know

I would be fine with the back end near the hinges, others might be more picky

Only the clubman had adjustable bonnet buffers from the factory. You may be able to get a buffer from another car to work, but it will need to only be very small in height.

The standard buffers were only a few mm high.

My bonnet looks just like yours with the driver side higher at the front at slam panel than the passenger side....going to try the 'gentle twisting by hand method as well' 👍👍

emphasis on gentle...   if for no other reason than they are expensive new and hard to find decent quality used without being full of rust

and I don't want anyone coming back and cursing me for suggesting it lol (but I wasn't the only one)

Every time you use the bonnet prop then you twist the bonnet. You may be twisting it often by default.Steve..

^ this is why I'm planning for a gas strut on each side, having had a few cars with that as standard I really can't be doing with the old school piece of metal rod flapping about
