I'm soon to change out my degreaser in my parts cleaner. I've been using hydrocarbon based fluid for many years, it's quite effective and the parts are left with a light oily film so they don't readily rust for quite a while after cleaning. It is a bit on the dear side though and it stinks, even though a couple of years back, I went to a low odor version, which is way better, but still has a pong about it.
I'm temped to go to a water based type. I did try one many years ago and found it utterly hopeless. I'm quite willing to try again here, but I'd like one that works comparable to a hydrocarbon fluid and also preferably doesn't leave the parts likely to flash rust after cleaning and also low or no odor. My parts washer is all powder coated steel and has some plastic or resin material in the pump, so it's important it doesn't lead to rusting here or damage the pump.
What are you guys using and what's been your experience ?

The 25l barrels have gone up by £30 since I bought one last year though.

Jizer was the best back in the 60's as it left no residue. Found some last year in Trago Mills and bought a 5L tin. It is still the best for DIY use.

Not much use to you Spider (unless Screwfix have expanded) but I was very pleasantly surprised with https://www.screwfix...aser-5ltr/88668 in my parts cleaner.

Many thanks guys for the suggestions.
I know I can get Jizzer locally and for somewhat reasonable price.
Poolman, I gotta say, the No Nonsense stuff also looks great. Screwfix aren't represented here, however, I * think * I can get that through the missus's Amazon account
Are you guys using these products neat or diluting it ?

I use it neat in the parts washer and diluted 50:50 @ 40deg in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Zep products are pretty good but they do smell. Currently using 505 but the purple one is stronger.
When I was back in the UK I used Gunk green for the bike and car and was always pretty impressed - biodegradable too.

Good old unleaded petrol here. A bit on the dangerous side but not 30 quid a gallon like Jizer.
I prefer paraffin.
