Clutch is slipping, which after a few years off the road is no surprise and I have never really been happy with it since it was built over a decade ago.  As the engine temps and spirited driving increase the clutch starts to slip badly.

Talking to MED and we are going for their stg2 pre verto clutch plus upgraded operating arm kit.

I have flywheel puller, flwheel locking tool (ordering), breaker bar and suitable sized sockets.

Will I need to remove the servo and master cylinder to get proper access?  I fear the answer is yes as otherwise I cannot see how I will get sufficient leverage.

Anyone done it with it in place or should I just make life easy and remove it.

Thanks
Dave

I've done it by undoing both engine mounts, removing radiator and jacking engine over a little to allow the wok to come off. That's the hard part. Don't see why you need to go to a pre verto setup. The verto one is plenty good enough for road use. Built my 1293 back in 2015 and the clutch is still good.

I think the double Verto spring modification would be a nicer upgrade due to the lighter clutch pedal.

Conversion is primarily to offer more choice on plates and springs and reduced flywheel weight.   Conversation with MED and engine spec felt that the pre verto with an orange spring would suit the engine better.

Thanks for the answer on moving engine over, ive only seen people talk of removing engine mount on the clutch side and not both.

I have the rivetted and bonded AP clutch disc in my 1430.

I didn't realise there was less of a choice of plates and presumably diaphragms for Verto clutches.

I saw the HRE videos on the double Verto spring and thought it looked like a nice mod. I'm sure there must Verto clutch parts to handle 100bhp that suit road driving.

One of my only concerns is the heavier clutch pedal.  Sorry for the silly question, what do you mean by the double verto spring mod?

Can't really see you can do it with the servo in place.
Hopefully you've got a decent quality flywheel puller with a large diameter main bolt with a nice fine thread, most on the market today are rubbish and make the job real hard work and tedious.
I've never touched the radiator or the engine mount on the passenger side. I only jack the engine up on the drivers side by about 1/2"

From what I have looked at you can get a competition spring which is the equivalent of an orange one.  The MED stg 2 kit which comes fully balanced is available as a verto and is good for up to 100lbt of torque, so should be good to handle my engine.  I am tempted though whilst doing this to go the whole hog with the pre verto set up.

That was my thoughts as no way to get leverage.  My puller must be 20 years old and has a decent diameter main bolt with a fine thread and bought from Mini Spares.  Hopefully will do the job!

I remembered incorrectly, rather than a lighter pedal. It is for increasing the clamping force of the Verto clutch.

Although you do apparently end up with lighter required pedal effort, compared to a pre-Verto clutch pedal of equivalent clamping force.

After pricing everything up with have decided to stay with a Verto clutch and gone for the MED stg 2 lightweight set up.  Spring is equivalent of an orange with uprated plate.

Let's just hope the car plays ball and I can get the old flywheel off OK.
