Just got my rebuilt engine in, runs beautifully but I have an annoying drip from the diff cover lug on the drivers side, everything was renewed, bush/seal etc and correctly shimmed so I'm guessing it's the O ring for the reverse detent. I know they are prone to a leak here and as the gasket doesn't go down this far I'm wondering if a smear of RTV around the ring area will help?

It's annoying more than anything else but I would like to strip it and fix it before I start driving it so what is the advice from those that have been there and done it before?

I'm pretty sure I didn't put any Hylomar down that far but the face was in good condition.

The O Rings should seal dry, but I've always put a blob of RTV or ThreeBond on the O Ring for insurance.

Ah ok thanks, hopefully that will fix it, don't want a drip on a brand new motor!
