Just had word back from my mechanic... had them trying to fit a set of four Goodridge stainless brake lines (from Minispares) to my '88 Mini with 12inch wheels. The rears went on the wheel cylinders ok. Fronts did not thread into calipers (though they did thread into the hard line union ok). They think my brakes (both calipers and discs) might be for the smaller 10 inch rims. Are the caliper hose threads different? I see no mention of this on the Minispares description for the braided hoses. Car has a brake booster and I'd just presumed it had the 8.4" discs and standard calipers for those. How to confirm what I have?

Are they trying to thread the end into the caliper, after they have threaded the end into the front crosspipe? I had to thread it into caliper first, then into crosspipe.

All threads are the same. But the hoses are handed.the one for the banjo fitting has a deeper hole in it.

tell them to take the hoses off the car and fit them with the copper washer to the caliper first.

The mechanic stated the caliper end of the hose would not thread into caliper, just spins. Now his English wasn't the best so maybe I misunderstood him, but the place is familiar with Mini's, owner has one, so they should know.
I will try to confirm if it was the hard line connection end, female hose end that was the problem.

To clarify, all mini calipers, for disc sizes 7,7.5,7.9,8.4, use same hose fitting?

Mini callipers only came in 3 sizes. And they all used the same thread. Which is also the same as the drum brake fittings and 99% of all the brake fittings. Some master cylinder and balance bars had different.  The Minis had 7”,7.5” and 8.4” any other size is not Mini standard. But most others will also be the same fitment.

people have been known to do Ford Fiesta brake conversions. IIRC those are Metric.

photo of the calliper would help.

We're the metro calipers metric?
I know they're a different thread to my KAD calipers as I had to change the banjo bolts at the caliper, but I can't remember which caliper had which thread.

Just look at KAD site, their calipers are imperial so metro ones must be metric.
