Hoping someone may be able to help me. Currently putting back together my 1963 Mini Cooper and need to get the original fuel tank externally refurbished. I have removed everything in preparation however mine appears to have a brass drain plug fitted and also has the rubber seal that sits on the boot floor.

The plug does not appear to accommodate a spanner and does not want to shift with a pair of grips. I can't find any examples of anyone stripping these out (a number of videos of re-fitting a tank but seem to skip the refurbishment) and the only reference to something similar I could find is in the interactive diagrams on somerford mini website (mine has no pipe so part number 2 & 3 on the 1959-1980 view I think https://www.somerfor...rburetter-model).

I don't want to go in heavy handed and damage anything so hoping someone else may have had to deal with something similar and any help/advice would be really appreciated.

Note: I am assuming it is screwed in as you can get the replacement rubber.

Picture of the bottom of the tank available if some can tell me how to upload pictures to a post (or what an acceptable host for them)

Thanks for the link...that is what is fitted to mine and shows how to get the plug out (doing it is a different matter of course!)
