I had retro fitted an OEM Tachometer to my 1982 HLE 1000 which was running a points distributor.

I managed to find that the existing loom had two connections for wiring up a Tacho, the Tachometer had 4 wires (black, red, blue and yellow) once connected (and I can't find the details of how I wired it, but it worked right away.

I have now installed a 1310 engine, but with an electronic ignition. The tacho seemed to work but was a bit intermittent and did not seem to register the correct RPM. Last time I ran the engine, I noticed that it had stopped working? Maybe I killed it.

Anyway, couple of questions.

Are the type of electronic tachometers different when using a points or electronic distributor such as the 65D?

I will at some point be switching to a Speeduino ECU, does anyone know whether the same tachometer would work with the ECU?
