Maintenance Free Ball Joints,

Can anyone offer some advice on removing the blue spring to remove the rubber cover without damaging it...and putting it back.

Thank you.

I have used a small jeweler type screwdriver on them - with great care !

I've tried the Japanese types and found the boots are more resilient that you might think.

The ones I have been supplied with came with no grease in them and they did (somewhere !) advise to grease them after first fitting them.

Thanks. Yes I asked mini spares they said don’t need to grease. So I’m unsure about this as well.

Just use a screwdriver and be careful, that's how I did it. once you have "hooked" the clip then it is probably safest to angle the screwdriver close to parallel to the boot so that if you slip it doesn't punch straight in. What I think I did was get the screwdriver in and then slide it around so that the clip moves up and comes off. The ones I used were the JMSA ones, there was definitely instructions somewhere that mentioned no need to grease them after the initial installation, meaning they need to be greased.

The information for them is a little vague, but I did take one apart before fitting and it had no grease in it.

Be aware too, these joints - all of them - have less articulation than the original joints. There was a recent thread on them.
