I'm thinking of fitting a flip fuel cap to the mk1, me being me I don't want one of those that fits over the existing cap but one the screws to the existing neck via a threaded collar, I've found a glue which will do the job on the collar but which would be the correct orientation, horizontal flip or vertical flip, as an old motorcyclist we always had the flip along the length of the tank, although these were banned from bikes because during an accident if you went over the front they had a tenancy to detach Steve and the boys from your body. I must admit I'm thinking along the lines of following the body seam to keep things lined up.If anybody has a shot of there set up it would be much appreciated.

I've always set my caps with the hinge and clasp parallel to the vertical seams.

I have mine horizontal, hinge to the front, so that, should it unlatch, airflow will keep it , almost, closed.

This is how I have mine, following the seam and with the hinge at the bottom.
