Hello Mini Lovers.
I have a Mini Rover 1.3 - SPI, from 1992.
I would like to ask for your help trying to solve a problem with my Mini.
When I start the engine it runs fine for a few seconds, but about half a minute later it shuts down.
If I start the engine and keep my foot on the accelerator pedal for a few minutes (about 1500 rpm) it doesn't turn off. After this time I can take my foot off and the engine won't turn off. However, the engine works poorly, but does not turn off.
Can you help me?
Thank you very much.

Hello.
Thank you to everyone who helped diagnose my MINI problem. The mechanic has exhausted all possibilities. And informed me the problem is in the ECU.
So, I need to purchase a control unit for a ROVER MINI COOPER, SPI, 1992. The reference is MNE 1027 - 0292 - 4023 (or compatible).
Does anyone know where I can buy one for a fair price? Can be used in good condition.
Thank you very much.

Ebay UK is worth a search.  There is a company there which advertises repair,  or you may even find a second hand unit.  Postage is a killer though.

Has he connected diagnostic equipment and read the live data to see what it is doing.Without this just replacing the ECU is just guessing.Has he measured the fuel pressure, tested the battery voltage, checked for air or fuel leaks.Steve..

Like sonscar says, you need to make sure that the proper diagnostics have been done prior to repairing or replacing the ECU.  However, when the ECU is determined to be faulty, buying a used one is like playing Russian roulette. You have no idea what you are going to get. In my case, I had mine repaired/rebuilt right on the first time. The shipping was expensive then and much more now, but it was worth it. These are the guys I went with:

Yes has connected diagnostic equipment and read the live data. Also he measured the fuel pressure, tested the battery voltage, and checked for air or fuel leaks.

Yeah, buying used is a big risk. The best is to repair mine. I'm from Portugal. This repair company is in England, right?

I will check de link  https://www.atcdrive...=&submit=Search and I will contact the company by email. Lets see.

Good morning.

The problem with the control unit is that when it heats up with the normal operation of the car, it cuts the ignition. The tachometer pointer drops and the engine ends up going out.
The mechanic says it's a similar symptom as if the problem is in the rev sensor (but it's not).
The mechanic says it's not a question of having damaged components in the ECU.
He even left the control unit in the sun for a bit (naturally it warmed up) and the problem immediately occurred.

Diagnostic tool did he use: https://play.google....&hl=pt_PT&gl=US
