So, just a little short story.

The horn has never worked on my MPI car but does go off when the alarm does. So I concluded it was the rotary coupler. So obviously this came up on MOT so I set to replacing it.
Ordered one on ebay and set to it.

On taking everything off and unplugging the coupler I see two cut wires at the back on the plug (eugh!) But then notice that the same colour wires are attached to the little black button by the ignition......Ahhhhh. Penny drops.

I've never even touched that button, noticed it before but when driving so didn't want to press it while in motion just in case. How silly do I now feel for not even checking it or thinking that may be the horn now.

So as I don't have tools to re wire it with me I figure I might as well put the new coupler in as that's obviously why this little mod was done (failed MOT on this 2 years ago) and i can sort the wiring at a later date. So put the coupler in and get it all back together then when connecting the airbag back up at the end I notice the connection is ever so slightly different and won't fit! Dammit!

So take it all apart again and put the old coupler back in, all back together again, battery connected and try the little black button by the ignition.... BEEP, horn works fine and always has.

What a lot of faffing about for absoloutely nothing. Ah well. At least it will pass its MOT and I can honk wildly at people now as I wish.
