Sorry for ore posts on my timing cover woes.

Just watched classic mini workshop video on replacing seal and gasket and he mentions the oil thrower washer, but I do not have one fitted and certainly nothing came out when I first stripped it.

I am running mini spares duplex gears but assume that there should be an oil thrower in place?  Is there any reason not to fit one?

I want to do everything to try and prevent future oil leaks and this would seem sensible to fit.

Many thanks

IIRC some chains did cause issues with the UK spec oil thrower as they had a joining clip which could cause contact issues so people binned the thrower.

Thanks as always Nick, much appreciated.

Might order one for the sake of a few quid and see if it is catching.

I've run with and without the oil thrower with no issues. MED told me to run without the thrower which I did for a number of years. I now run with one again mainly as with it fitted it gave perfect crank, water pump and alternator pulley alignment.

thanks for the reply.

just had a quick look at the chain and can’t see a joining pin so hopefully can re fit
