What's the best (modern) mastic to use between ash frame and tinwork, please?

I used this stuff when I fitted new wood to my Minor traveller

It can be stretched out to give a thinner bead if necessary and it's nice and clean to work with.

Interesting... I use that tape for glazing polycarbonate into my wooden teardrops ( PhieldBug.co.uk ). It's a Hodgsen product designed for seating glazing units into timber frames and is brilliant stuff. Trouble is, soon as you touch it to something... it sticks permanently. So in this case I'll carry on looking for goop in a tube. Did consider Carafax IDL-99 (aka Hodgsen SeamSeal CV), but it's a bit too runny for gaps over 1mm.

I have used Sikaflex automotive on a  number of projects, once she's set its like rubber, devil to get off though, and have at least a bottle of metho handy to clean up your hands afterwards, I find with or without gloves it still covers me! Plus when you have finished pop it in the fridge as its a bugger for setting itself in the tube even if you seal the nozzle tight.

Do like the look of that tape though will give it a try, good luck :)

Thanks all.

My inclination at the moment is to use dollops of non-setting mastic (IDL-99) around the screw-holes and openings, and just leave any gaps elsewhere. I've fettled the timber kit to fit reasonably well, and the benefit of being able to remove all the timber whenever I want - without getting me and the car covered in goop - outweighs the prettiness of hiding all the gaps.
