In a bit of a conundrum I am rebuilding the above Cooper S, and have got to the wiring stage the problem I have is where the regulator is to be located as it was when it left the factory, having looked at hundreds if pictures there seems to be three different locations hoping someone can point me in the right direction, thanks in advance.

I would imagine the wiring loom will dictate the position of the regulator, wherever the wires for the regulator emerge from the loom will be where the regulator goes.

Hi thank's for the reply, that was my thinking but by moving the loom forward or backwards a couple of inches it puts the wires in a couple of different places, some of the pictures I have looked at show the regulator on it's side and also upright next to the bulkhead, and other pictures show it in front of the angled bodywork with a hole in it that the loom passes through, inside the actual engine bay.

I think the second option you mention, in front of the angled panel, would be the original position.

It may be that it is moved onto the bulkhead if a remote brake servo is to be fitted.

If you ask on https://mk1-forum.net/ they are pretty good with these kind of details for mk1 Cooper S
