Hi , by way of introduction. I’m new to mini motors but have a lifetime history of building all types of older motors including some other quite interesting stuff.
I’ve been asked to rebuild a couple of A Series motors for a friend one stock and one “ fast road” I’m hoping be able to use the collective knowledge in this forum to help me avoid rookie mistakes and keep me on the straight and narrow.
I’ll work out how to post pictures so I can share the drop gear carnage stripping the first engine has revealed 🙏

For "Fast Road", go for torque, not BHP.

The Yanks have an opinion, that there is "No substitute for cubic inches".

In my opinion, a supercharger is the next best thing.

A stock 1275 will feel like a 1750 through the rev range.

'no replacement for displacement' was the phrase I believe ..

I don't agree though to be honest especially with the big ol' lumps of pig iron they're talking about

a smaller, lighter, less powerful engine in a smaller lighter car is much more fun im sure most mini enthusiasts would agree
