I am after some help/advice/best practice for removing the stub axle on the rear radius arm. I have attached an image for reference.

Long story short, I need to remove it due to a failed bearing that has welded itself to the stub axle.

I have tried to heat the stub axle and tried numerous times to hit the stub with no success.

Do I need a hydraulic press or can this be done in the garage?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You need a 10ton press to get it moving. It ain’t going anywhere without lots of force.

changed a few.

Is there a retaining pin/washer you have to remove prior to applying any force?

Nope press from the threaded end. Note they are different studs for left and right side,

Metro stubs but the same. There is a C clip to hold them in place.

Thanks for the image/explanation. Where I have highlighted my image, assuming press out from this way?

So from the front of the radius arm - behind the wheel?

If you look at the KAD ones you will see there is no way you could press from the shock side.

Noted, just saw the images - wouldn’t load when I replied. Thanks for your help. I will give this a go tomorrow with a press.

Make a press piece for when you fit the new ones as you don’t want to be pressing on the threaded part as you will distort it. Some heat on the arm will help.
