To fit some rear inertia seat belts in a 79 saloon where are the fixing points?
Can I have pictures of the top mount. Is that a factory fitting. Not something that can be added?

Don't think such a thing exists, as a factory fitting. They were only static belts, mounting to the C pillar & bottom of the seat back. The MPI inertia reels mount to the rear wheel arch. People have fitted horizontal  reels, as used on soft tops & Series Lannies,  to the parcel shelf. It would need some fabricated reinforcement & wouldn't be great for anyone whose shoulder is higher than the seat back.

That's the c pillar fixing point and I believe there are two slightly different types because the window hole changed slightly depending on age. The guy at Somerford mini explained it to me when I ordered some

The same place also sells the fixing brackets for the wheel arch. Easiest to weld in with the rear quarters off but possible without if you don't mind welding at tricky angles in tight spaces. Check out some other builds to make sure welding the right one to the right side and at the right height but a bit of logic you can work it out

Therefore the reel will be in the storage bin and the pivot point over the shoulder fixes to the c pillar

Yep ok. So the fixing points were only standard later and they need welding in on C pillar
Cheers

Basically yeah the c pillar piece is also a general strengthening piece as well I guess because mine had them including the threaded fixing point but still only came with lap belts and no reel fixings in the bins

I suppose that was when they did 3 points as an option but were only fixed not reels
