Hi everyone. Just joined this forum in the hope some of you Mini experts can answer a couple of questions for me.

I recently bought a 1965 Mk1 Cooper S with a single fuel tank. The twin tanks were introduced in 1966 I think or by special order.

I have purchased a new right hand tank and fitting kit rom Mini Spares Centre but came with no fitting instructions.

The kit came with a couple of brackets again with no measurements included where they are meant to be fixed.

I also need a template or measurements for cutting the hole on the right side for the neck to go through.

I'm worried that without template or measurements, I will drill by sight in the wrong place and mess my car up.

I would be grateful for any help given to get me started. Pictures if possible would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Fred.

If it's a Mk1, my advice is do not fit the second tank.  Keep it genuine

Thanks JXC Mini GT. there is some good information in you links specially the mag article. Very much appreciated.

Floormanager. Yes it is a Mk1 but I understand that right hand tanks were fitted to earlier cooper s cars by the factory as a special order.

Thanks to both of you for your input.

Fred.
