Hello,

Has anyone installed a front suspension limiting strap to the front suspension? I’ve put red spot cones, modified hilos in and lowered type shocks, but whilst the cones settle the cones are a bit too loose for liking when on full droop so thinking adding limiting straps would be an idea.

Question is how did you mount? Was thinking of looping a strap around the top mount and then to the other side of shock bolt. However standard straps seem to large and unable to found anything smaller.

I haven’t seen limiting straps fitted but Special Tuning used to add a piece of steel to the area of the top arm that contact the rebound buffer on the subframe to limit how far down the arm can move.

The shim went under the rebound buffer to stop the droop with Neg camber arms, apparently the FIA Appendix K boys use 2 nuts and a bolt to replace the buffer ( Drilled hole through the subframe on the horizontal plane).

Cheers, just had a look at the rebound buffer and it's hardly been touched when on full droop so adding, will look to add a plate, etc here. Shame those tall buffers from the US are not available in the UK (that I can).

If what you say is correct then you have other issues.

why reds and then mod the HiLos? Reds are taller for rally cars not really right for lowers.

The shock is limiting the travel here, and as it's a Midas not Mini the top shock mount is probably not in the same place. Normally the Midas takes 155/70 tyres on 12" wheels, but many use 165/60 but too fill the arches it looks better slightly lower, the reds are new and not bedded in yet and it looks like once settled it would look right without modding the hilo (which was removing the locknut option and cutting a bit off the "bolt"). I'm just looking at options incase it doesn't settle as much as I think it will, and being a little impatient. The rear uses coilovers.
