Hi all. Acquired a CAM 4810 head and, while tidying it up discovered what appears to be a pop rivet!?
Can't think why this would be there?
Also odd marks on thermo housing. Apparently the head has "had some work done" But was it by Baron Frankenstein??

They all have it, same as the engine block, just blocks off a drilling.

Please note it is not a standard pop rivet but a closed pop rivet so it seals the drilling.

Thanks nick. I don't intend to replace it. Let well alone. Had the head pressure-tested too. it seems fine. "If it aint broke..."

The early heads had brass plugs, I'm not sure when the pop rivet plugs were fitted, I'd say from the mid 80's.

I'm not sure what your project is here,,,, but,,,, I gotta say,,,,,,

I always pull the plugs. There'll be a blind pocket there that will hold crud and can't be otherwise reached in to.

You can early re-fit new plugs or a Rivet of the correct type, sealant is wise. I tape the holes and fit screwed plugs, then next time, it's dead easy.
