Hey there!  I'm getting a leak from rain water through the bulkhead. (definitely rain rather than the hose, it only happens when it's wet and my coolant level isn't going down!). Is there a seal or grommet that should be here but is missing?

Is that engine steady bracket in use?

Looks like it'll create a few clearance issues. The company formerly known as DSN have some tasty solutions, with not so palatable prices,

The least effort alternative could be a generic bulkhead hose fitting off of Fleabay

The steady bracket isn't in use no. The bracket was there when I got the car but the steady wasn't. I did buy one, but it didn't seem to fit (almost like it needed to be a bit longer to get over the back of the manifold), and having seen people's comments on here that they're not that useful I thought I'd leave it off.

Those are some very nice looking steadies on the link you sent... May have to invest in one of those. I went for the minispares one as that's where I've been getting my parts from so far. Have you used the ones you linked?

It looks like the plate has been hacked to allow the pipe to pass beside the steady bracket, so removing the bracket as well as fining a plate might help.  where is the water coming from?  the wiper boxes should have plastic seals around them and the wiper arms should cover the spindles for the wipers.

The scuttle seal looks alright to me, but will certainly get myself a new plate and the grommet from that minispares link. After getting a membership! Wish I'd done that sooner, thanks Chris!

Despite the seals on the bulkhead needing replacing, there should not be water getting onto the bulkhead in the first place. Could be washer fluid, or from the bonnet seal or from the wiper bushes.

You need the plate that KTS suggest also this gasket

even these may not seal it off to well and you may need to put a bit silicon around the hose.

No, not used any DSN  S-CAN stuff. Had a thermostat side steady bar on a Mini back in the day & a couple of sheared standard engine steady bolts, so I think they're a worthwhile addition. Mine was probably homespun from threaded rod & tie rod bushes.
