I would like to prime my oil pump via the banjo bolt prior to starting.

I think the procedure is to squirt some oil in and turn the engine backwards by hand.

Which way is backwards and where should i turn it from?

No such thing as a silly question, the engine runs clockwise from the rad end,so turn the engine anticlockwise if you can get at the bottom pulley bolt use that, but take the plugs out, if not stick it in a gear and push the car backwards.

Thank you.

I was considering replacing the banjo copper washers with Dowty seals because the banjo joint looks a bit wet.

I could just anneal the copper washers or replace but i wondered if anyone has used Dowty seals. I think they have been suggested for the oil sump drain plug.

Minispares sell LYF10017 for this purpose which is probably just a Dowty washer. They say they were fitted from 1985.
