Attempting to renew my subcription but it appears that you have to create an account if you want to pay via Paypal.

Could someone confirm if that's correct?

The Paypal screen has changed since my last renewal.

Then on the next screen

Already got a PayPal account? Login or Pay with card.

You can't leave the screen after entering your card details unless you add your phone number, password and date of birth.

Hope someone can tell me different.

You don’t but if you enter an email that has a PayPal account tied to it it asks you to log in.

just been all the way though to where you get to enter your card details. You don’t have to sign up to or have a PayPal account.

I do have a Paypal account, I've had it for about 2 years and with their fees and now, over the top request for personal information, I'll soon be closing it.

On the screen I've shown above it used to say 'or pay with credit/debit card' where it says 'Or create an account'

I used to have an account but closed it when they started policing what they considered to be 'hate' speech and closing accounts.

yeah they try and trick you into thinking creating an account is the only option

but last time I used it (fairly recently) I definitely ended up with an option to pay by card and I've never had an account

That the issue it sees your mail account as one it knows.

and re the hate speech actually read what they said. It is more to do using their platform to raise funds to fund hate speech.

nothing wrong with that.

My account was closed before I renewed last year and had no problems then.

I respective of that Paypal changed their mind and allowed the closed accounts to be ropened.

Likely a commercial decision overode their desire to virtual signal.

I am struggling with this same issue.

I enter my card details but it asks for an email address and DOB

When I put in my email address it throws up a "Account already exists" error

Like others I have had a PP account before but do not want to use it for this purchase.

Very frustrating

Is it possible to use a throw away email address to make the payment? Or do you have to use the email address associated with the Mini Forum?

I must be having a senior moment.

After multiple failed attempts I had a cuppa and tried one last time.  It now decided to work but I have no idea what i did differently

If you remember you had a cup of tea :D  :D  :D
