I have a 1996 1275 engine mini which has an alarm fitted and this bloody thing is so temperamental it works when it wants and in turn immobilises the car. So I’m sick of the dam thing and would like some info about disabling the thing and removing completely from the car. If anybody has done this and could give some pointer it would be greatly appreciated

You can buy the Pscan software which via a cable and a laptop enables you to electronically take the immobiliser out of the system, which would work if it is an electronic fault, in the unit rather than a physical fault in the wiring. I believe there is a video on youtube with someone doing it on a classic Mini. The Pscan software is a diagnostic system that is claimed to do up to 90% of what the original Rover diagnostics could do, and they do still update the software from time to time. You have to buy it or get someone with it to assist you. Good luck

He disabled the automatic re-arm on mine, which had nearly killed me on numerous occasions, and programmed spare fobs, too.

+1 for Paul at technozen. He repaired the SCU for my mg express when it was playing up. I posted it to him and a few days later he sent it back and also gave me the codes to override the immobilizer and key codes which I didn't ask for. All paid over PayPal too, very nice bloke.
He also has a website if you Google technozen.
