Hi all,

I'm in need of a new GMC227 Yellow tag brake master for my project. What's everyone's thoughts and experience with the Non-AP versions? I've been looking at this Bull Motif Spares one on ebay for £59.88 here. It seems to sell pretty well with 42 sold.

The AP Lockheed version looks to come in at £100 with p&p everywhere. With it being a safety critical part I'm leaning to just go with genuine but if they are as good then I'd be happy with saving myself £40 which could go towards other parts.

If anyone got one in good condition and willing in sell then drop me a message. Same with the bias/limiter valve.

Cheers

Ben

Personally I would go for the Lockheed unit, the other will I have no doubt work but £40 does not go far if you have to replace any front body panels.

Could always get a seal kit.

But if you have no unit to replace the seals.... you may... need to buy one.....

The one I have is an old green tag like here

https://www.theminif...linder-is-this/

And is looking worse for wear.

If it has a green tag, can it really be a GMC227 ?

From my understanding the GMC227 supersedes all front to rear systems.

A GMC167, which is still available, is similar in that it has the same size bore right through, but has metric threads (M10 x 1.0) are still available new.

Think you've answered your own question, safety critical component.

Don't have doubt.

Thanks Spider. Does this mean the GMC167 has the same pressure output from both upper and lower ports?

Yes.

They are a little different in appearance as they have an inbuilt PDWA Valve and a Port in to that for a Fail Switch, however, it should fit up the same save for the different threads as the original.

Thank you Spider.

Am i right in thinking that the GMC227 should not be used to replace the GMC167, unless the brake bias is going to be adjusted to suit?

Here's some pictures of my current green tag brake master and the pdwa valve.

In-Collage-20231019-110934353.jpg
The brake master doesnt resemble the GMC167 to me and is close to the black and yellow tag masters.

The old existing brake lines are as this diagram shows for front to rear, and not diagonal:

https://www.minispar...n.aspx?2~17~143

I plan on replacing the brake master, pdwa valve and all the lines too.
