I don't think the location is correct for a van, that would about the place it would be in an estate. This looks like a van with a rear seat conversion where the load bed has been chopped out.
In a van the battery should be directly behind the drivers seat at the front of the load bed, there is a large void behind the battery under the loadbed and if I remember correctly there is a metal plate vertically from the front of the load bed to the floor that the battery is sat against.

Hello Miniacs, I can't find on the net any pictures of the battery tray factory arrangement for mini vans, can someone confirm the one on my car is original and just missing battery holders and cover ? Regards, Fred
