Hi all,

I bought a steering wheel T-bar lock from Halfords today (this one - https://www.halfords...ock-227894.html)

.....as a deterrent as much as a security device! I noticed on the packaging that it says the lock can leave imprints and marks on the steering wheel from use.

I have a Studio 2 with original steering wheel and don't particularly want to replace it because a wheel lock has 'bruised' it! Has anyone else had any issues with this or am I being too finicky? Any better suggestions or recommendations on other locks/devices are also welcome!

Thanks  :proud:

I have had issues in the past with wheel locks like that leaving bruises on the steering wheel. IMHO The full disk style wheel locks are better as they don’t leave marks / bruises on the wheel and can’t be used to assist in snapping the factor steering lock.

A better deterent is a flashing led on the dash somewhere. And you can buy "security system fitted" stickers.

use disclocks on both minis don't mark steering wheel at all or you can get cheaper version from halfords about half the cost and similar, both far better than t-bar style. store them in rear cbby next to back seat when driving

I fitted quick release steering wheel to my minis so unless they lift the car or bring thier own wheel the car is staying where I leave it !

Thanks for the thoughts all! Going to begin with a full disc lock and go from there.

If you google "steering car wirh spanner" there are loads of videos to make you shudder.
I have done it when moving cars around, repositioning in and out of shed, but not at any speed. But I would assume a theif would not hesitate.

Diskloks on both mine.  I have suffered minor marking, but this was remedied buy buying the steering wheel cover disklok sell.  Personally wouldn't use anything less, as unfortunately the lock saved one of my daily cars from going a few years back, even though they had the keys.

Wow watching them videos was scary ! The worst part was they thought it was hilarious driving on a public road with a spanner for steering .
